Each custom extrusion project moves through five production stages, from drawing review and die development to batch extrusion, secondary processing and final inspection. The production route is confirmed according to the profile section, alloy, dimensions, required length and finished-part requirements.

Every new extrusion project starts with a customer drawing, profile sketch or existing sample. Before the extrusion die is made, we confirm the alloy and temper, profile dimensions, finished length, key tolerances, machining, surface finish, and sample and production quantities.

Once the profile drawing is approved, the extrusion die is manufactured and prepared for the first trial.

Initial profile lengths are then extruded and checked against the drawing, including the cross-section, key dimensions, wall thickness, straightness and surface condition.

If the initial trial does not meet the agreed profile requirements, the die is corrected and trialled again before sample cutting, CNC machining and finishing are arranged.

Profile After Die Correction

Production is arranged according to the aluminum alloy, profile size, required length and order quantity. Extrusion presses ranging from 600 to 3,600 tons are available, with 6063 and 6061 being the most commonly used aluminum alloys.

During production, the profiles leave the extrusion press in long lengths. After cooling, they are stretched and straightened before being cut to the required lengths. Aging is carried out where required to achieve the specified temper. Cooling and stretching conditions are selected according to profile geometry and required straightness, especially for long, thin-wall and finned sections.

Key dimensions, straightness and surface condition are checked against the approved trial sample throughout production to maintain consistency across the batch.

After extrusion, profiles can be supplied in long lengths, cut to size or processed into finished components according to the customer’s drawing.

Secondary operations include precision cutting, end-face milling, drilling, tapping, countersinking, slot and window machining, deburring and assembly. Machining requirements are reviewed before production so that the profile length, machining allowances and processing sequence can be planned together.

After machining, available surface finishes include natural or black anodizing, hard anodizing, sandblasting, brushing, powder coating and wet painting. For visible components, color and surface appearance can be confirmed through samples before batch finishing.

Inspection is carried out at each stage, from trial extrusion and batch production to CNC machining and surface finishing.

Before packing, the profile cross-section, key dimensions, cut length, straightness, machined features, threaded holes and surface appearance are checked against the final drawing. The order quantity and part identification are also verified.

Anodized, brushed, painted or powder-coated parts are individually protected or separated to reduce contact marks during transportation.

We have experience packing and shipping finished aluminum extrusion components around 2 m long. Packaging is arranged according to profile length, surface condition and transport method. For long finished profiles, protective materials and reinforced wooden cases can be used where standard cartons do not provide sufficient protection.
